Welcome to our Lab.

Welcome to website of the Matsuoka Laboratory. Matsuoka Lab. was founded in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Science in 1996. The research is being conducted in the field of Parallel and Distributed Computing. More precisely, it's focused on High Performance Computing (HPC). HPC is a technology to compute large-scale problems, such as computer simulation, efficiently and faster. Nowadays, the role of HPC in computer simulation is increasing and research of advanced HPC technology in different application areas is the main mission of Matsuoka Lab. The Global Scientific Information and Computing Center (GSIC) with Prof. Satoshi Matsuoka , who leads the project, recently developed TSUBAME 2.0. TSUBAME 2.0 is a high-performance computer that is the fastest supercomputer in Japan and the second most energy-efficient supercomputer in the world, while achieving a peak performance of 2.4 petaflops (November 2010). Various scientific research project have been done on the previous generation system TSUBAME 1.2 in the Matsuoka Lab. Now, this research is going to be continued on a true petascale platform TSUBAME 2.0.
